I don't care what anyone says / this book was a lifesaver for me: someone diagnosed late in life with ADHD / very practical advice for strategies to stay focused and in the moment. My brain always feels like it's a video game being bombarded by input - this book helped me feel like I have control over being in the moment and managing life's distractions. I give it my highest recommendation !

As a professional, clinician, researcher in ADHD and as a PERSON with severe ADHD and other LD, I think this book is very good for the lay person. The chapters are going to be very helpful for those who have yet to explore mindfulness for the benefit of ADHD. I do find them a tad "dry" to read though, it's not a huge critique, it's just as an ADHD professional I have a hard time with anything that doesn't "click" immediately. I can skim enough to get the gist because I know this material very well, but nothing about the writing was particularly "pulling." I do love the CD that comes with it and I think if you are a professional who works with people who has ADHD, this would be a great staple, either to help you practice with them in session for mindfulness OR to have them use as a "at home guide." I used the emotional regulation chapter the other night when i was feeling particularly reactive and listened to the CD and it had me calm much faster than usual and able to go back to my discussion and no nasty "aftereffects" of being anxious, frustrated, or tongue tied. Overall, well worth the money if you are looking for this type of information for self-help or to use as a therapist with your patients.

The topic has alot of merit and the there is certainly a growing sector or data designated to the benefits of mindfulness as it relates to ADHD. However, the book isn't written with ADHD readers in mind. The chapters should be shorter, with more actionable chunks and visuals. It did very little to hold my attention. I think if it were reformatted with the audience in mind I would have gotten more out of it.

Very Helpful. The meditations and techniques taught in the book have made a difference for me. Definitely recommended for those with ADHD if and only if they continue to use what is taught. As with any technique for those of us with ADHD the trick is to continue to use what we've learned helps.This is not a fault of the book and it's techniques, it's inherent to the condition. Another exrtemley helpful book, especially for those who are new to, or have a relative with ADD is "Attention Deficit Disorder: A Different Perception" by Thom Hartmann. A very helpful and positive approach to ADD. I have found many of Mr. Hartman's books on ADD very helpful in developing strategies for myself and others in making use of the many positive aspects of this condition. I just wish it was available 60 years ago when I first exhibited symptoms. The book is indeed a different and positive perspective on the condition.

I have read quite a few self-help books for my ADHD. I am a functional, physician and have been through a tough time keeping my ADHD setbacks in check without the need for medication. This book is the first one that gave me INVALUABLE practical help that actually worked miracles. I am deeply indebted to the author for helping me in ways she is unable to personally witness in me. Amazon kindle helped me gain timely access to the book, let alone helping me find it in their suggested reading list. Thanks to Amazon as well.

This was one of the first books I ordered after receiving my ADHD diagnosis (at age 38). I am so grateful I did and so grateful to the author for her work in this area.I have been doing the sound, breath, body meditation for awhile now and what an absolute difference it makes. I return to this book over and over when I experience something I know is ADHD related, work the steps she offers, and am able to find peace and acceptance.Amazing and I look forward to more from this author.

My rating isn’t because of the quality of the bookOr advice in it. It’s purley because it comes with a CD and no option for an MP3 for the meditations provided except for puchasing online.I don’t know about you, I haven’t seen a CD player in awhile. My laptop dosent even have a disc drive.I am a big headspace user already and that’s what lead me to this, I haven’t read any books on the subject but I figured one directed at Adhd would be a good place to start. I will note I haven’t read much more than a few pages at this point. I just was miffed by the cd.

But, it's effectiveness for plenty of ADHD symptoms--distractability, impulsivity, and hyperactivity--as well other essential qualities--happiness, compassion, and resilience--has been verified. Try it!Adults with ADHD who are familiar with mindfulness:This book is about introducing mindfulness to adults with ADHD, not innovating different mindfulness practices. The most important point in this book is to keep formal practice manageable. Did you let your practice lapse? Start small: 5-10 minutes/day, and sit comfortably! Set an alarm on your phone! Don't procrastinate by reading this book!Adults without ADHD who are interested in mindfulness:This is a clear, readable introduction, but I'd probably prefer to start with a more general classic, such as Gunaratana's excellent "Mindfulness in Plain English."

Hoping to travel to Kathmandu with friends in the future. This will be my way of preparing for the trip. Very detailed and helpful. Not that many books like it on the market.

Outstanding read. Bell knows the city and environs. A nice mix of journalism and history

This is a journalistic piece of writing. Disconnected at many places because as the writer confessed in one of the chapters, he wrote this book after picking up pieces from so many books and paper work that contains years of research. Stringing a coherent story from strewn material is never easy. This book, however, has insights and some interesting facts. Good for a one time read though I had problems in being attentive. The book doesnt grow on you - at least I had to force myself to finish it.

I bought this book on Amazon.in.This book is not really a novel, but it is. It is not really a travel book, but it is. It is not really an autobiography, but it is –one that is dedicated to a relatively small but major part of the author’s life. And yes, a small but major part of the life of the country he writes about. Nepal.Whatever it is, it was pleasurable reading for me, because it was all about Kathmandu and Nepal, and at least to my biased eyes, the author seems to share my love for that city and that country, Himalayan warts and all.The book is about the author’s stay in Kathmandu. He came there as a press correspondent the year after the royal palace massacre of June 2001. I think he is still there as I write this review in March 2018.He came at a time of an armed Maoist insurgency and overall political turmoil, turmoil that continues to this day.He became besotted with Nepal, like I did. He lived with a traditional family in a traditional part of town. He married a Nepali lady and they have kids.He developed deep friendships with Nepalese of all castes and social and economic statuses. He took great pains to research Nepal, mostly from the political history viewpoint, and he has gems in the book that I found enthralling. He dug up old manuscripts that talk about the Nepal of the days well before the country opened up to the world in the 1950s. He went deep into Maoist held territory at the height of the insurgency. He talked to Maoist rebels. He made friends in the army and police. He got insider stories of the war and the atrocities committed by both sides.And he put it all into this book. That is what makes it a fascinating read for me..Will it make a fascinating read for you? I hope so. I think you should try it out.If you have already been to Nepal, you will find it engrossing. If you plan to go to Nepal some time, you will still find it engrossing.

A 101 course for any first time visitor to Kathmandu. Any easy read. Mr. Bell quickly helps the reader understand what she/he sees when walking the street of Kathmandu. I loved the book. One correction though: Page 256 - The author mentions USAID's presence during the 1950s. USAID was founded during the Kennedy administration on November 3, 1961.

The writer is a friend and former colleague of mine and I've always known his work to be excellent. This book surpassed my expectations. Read it for the magic of Kathmandu's lush and living urban culture and for biting analysis of the inept and corrupt governance that so plagues Nepal. Read it to find inspiration among people who meet adversity with humour, philosophy, their rich culture and desire for change. This is a book for people en route to Nepal and looking for ideas and insight, and it's a book for armchair travelers who want to experience a place like no other. Thomas Bell knows Kathmandu and Nepal thoroughly and his writing is lively, engaged and fluent. His journalism is excellent and the book leaves you with that all too rare feeling of wanting it to go on.....just a little longer. Despite it being a rather lengthy tome to begin with, there's just not enough "Kathmandu". We look forward to a sequel.

Because he is a good nephew, he agrees to go to the ball that evening to meet her, despite his exhaustion. In a hurry once he's there he rushes to introduce himself to Lady Charlotte, despite the impropriety of that. The sad news is: he introduced himself to the wrong lady. Instead, he introduces himself to Lady Alexandra. Then attraction takes over, for several people.This was a really good book with a good plot and good characters. The sad news is that it is a first draft. There are abundant word usage errors; misuse of common words such as your and you're; some terrible sentence and many unfinished ones, and other errors too numerous to mention. What should have been quite a good book was spoiled by all of these mishaps.I was given a free ARC of Entangled with the Duke in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The style of writing is bad, I mean really bad, and that doesn't even include the terrible editing. The perspective changes too frequently and side characters get multi-paragraph (and page) explanations of their thought processes, which is just plain confusing and pointless. The character's personalities swing wildly around and make absolutely no sense, there isn't even really anything romantic happening. It literally goes from "Yeah she's interesting," to "I'm gonna die if I don't talk to her and explain the thing!" Where did that come from? Where did this whole story come from? It feels like four stories that took out the bad parts and where consequently smashed together as well as one could hope. The side characters don't even have consistent personalities. The father and best friend who barely interact with the main female character at the beginning of the book suddenly come to be huge deals near the end and what little interaction you had with them before is dramatically changed for absolutely no reason. It's like a 500 piece puzzle with missing pieces borrowed from a completely different puzzle. Why even bother? Hard pass, waste of money and time.

I'm always excited about discovering a new writer in one of my favorite genres, historical romance. I always hope their work will be outstanding, and I'll be "hooked". Sadly, this book wasn't outstanding, just average. It also would have been more enjoyable to read if the author had taken the time to proofread her work, correcting typos, misspelled words, and incorrectly used words. Hopefully, she'll continue to write, improving her craft, and also be professional enough to proofread for errors in the future.

Lady Alexandra has a full plate raising her three younger sisters, taking care of her absent minded father, running the household, and running the museum in her father’s absence. She has not had the time for a season and is constantly sacrificing so her sisters may find appropriate matches. Duke Raven came back to London from America at his aunt’s insistence. She believed it was time to find him a bride of her choosing. He was reluctant at first, but he mistakenly danced with Lady Alexandra believing she was someone else. Affronted by the mistake, Alexandra then went on to hear how he felt about a museum her father owns and where she works.Raven realizing his mistake sought the correct woman out and was not impressed. His mind kept traveling back to the Lady Alexandra. From then on, he tried to find ways to be in her company. He was impressed at how much she handled but also infuriated no one helped her. He took it upon himself to get involved in many aspects of her life. They find themselves attracted to one another. Finally, they fall for one another and do not tell each other. At a party, Lady Alexandra walks in on a compromising situation involving Duke Raven and another woman. She walks away with a broken heart. Was she mistaken how she believed Raven felt for her? What shall she do? This is a clean romance with some very dear characters. I received this book for free and am voluntarily leaving a review.

On her deathbed, Lady Alexandra's mother asked her oldest daughter to promise to take care of her sisters and help them grow up to be proper ladies. Since Alexandra was only eight years old, this was a formidable task, but she has done it, and has even cared for her broken father. She's been so busy raisingh her sisters and preparing them to find suitable husbands that she has become a spinster and is sure she will never marry--until the Duke of Raven appears on the London scene. The story is great and is sometimes quite humorous, and the characterization is good, However, I only give it three stars because there are many misuses of words and off-the-mark descriptions.

We're either reluctant to get into discussions with our Protestant friends, or we may have a condescending attitude about our faith that pushes others away. This book will prepare, encourage, and empower you to share your Catholic faith with family, friends, and others, and could quite possibly help to bring them into or back into the Catholic Church.From his many years as a successful apologist, Patrick Madrid shares his experiences with why you should evangelize, what your mindset needs to be for God to work through you, evangelizing without words, how to prepare yourself mentally and spiritually to engage in discussions, how to approach others about your faith, how to endure failures, and, ultimately, how to trust the process to God, who is the only One who can truly bring non-Catholics back to the Church. Additionally, Search and Rescue is filled with inspirational quotes and prayers from some of the greatest saints, popes, and evangelists in the Church's history, and ends with an excellent reading plan for improving your skills at being God's messenger.

I'm not sure what I was looking for in a book, but there isn't really an easy answer to gaining souls for Christ. (Of course.)Patrick Madrid spends probably half the book discussing what you, the Catholic reader, can do to make yourself a better example and better representative of the Church. Then he talks about techniques for engaging people in dialogue, a little bit how to answer their questions or redirect criticism of the Church. He focuses a lot on prayer and "planting the seeds", or "fertilizing the soil" to allow the Holy Spirit to do the work.He also discusses well many of the pitfalls, such as pride and false assurance, that often befall conversion efforts.One of the most valuable parts of the book, to me, seems to be the helpful footnotes and long suggested reading list full of books on various topics of use to someone who wants to share the Faith. The reading list is divided into three sections, beginner, intermediate, and advanced, in increasing order of theological complexity.View this book as more of a game plan or introduction to your efforts, rather than as a comprehensive how-to manual.

Not a lot of meat here. It could have been said in a short article.

Lots of examples on what you can do to bring loved ones back to the Catholic Faith! You will get a great understanding why those closest to you might be the hardest to bring back to the Catholic FAith. Now I don't push our sons away but do the many things suggested in the book. I feel better about what I'm doing and NOT doing. I would recommend this book. It will also help you to bring people of other faiths into the Church. Actually, this book is for every Catholic! I would recommend it!

I expected some clearer strategies, but it's mainly about knowing the faith and not sabotaging your own efforts.

I have leant this book to 2 other ladies already. The first girl absolutely loved it and ordered it and I have yet to get it back from the second. She said it helped her with some of the issues she was having in her family. I thought the book was a real eye opener self review of our purposes and goals behind witnessing to others. It is a reminder of the importance of humility, trust, patience, prayer and above all love in every relationship.

About the Author

Jim Halderman brings a world of experience, knowledge, and talent to his work. His automotive service experience includes working as a flat-rate technician, a business owner, and a professor of automotive technology at a leading U.S. community college for more than 20 years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio Northern University and a Master’s degree in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Jim also holds a U.S. Patent for an electronic transmission control device. He is an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician and is also Advanced Engine Performance (L1) ASE certified. Jim is the author of many automotive textbooks, all published by Pearson Education. Jim has presented numerous technical seminars to national audiences, including the California Automotive Teachers (CAT) and the Illinois College Automotive Instructor Association (ICAIA). He is also a member and presenter at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT). I am a ASE master technician and thank god I rented this book only. Book is written by someone that is retired and has not fixed a car in a long time and probably never fixed a hybrid vehicle. He states in the book that AC compressors for hybrids use PAG OIL, they do not. PAG oil is conductive and will destroy a hybrid AC compressor. If your preparing for the ASE L3 hybrid test, do yourself a favor and use GM technician handbook and Toyota technician handbooks.

Frayed. Corners bent a bit. It still has a tough spine. It's very good, with thought-provoking accents.

Halderman writes very clearly .
